Barrbunin Beek Aboriginal Gathering Place

Heidelberg West

Barrbunin Beek Gathering Place, meaning “Happy Place”  in Woi-wurrung Language, is a place primarily for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to come together, in a socially, culturally, and physically safe space.  It provides an opportunity for people to connect to culture, community and space.  An important part of our culture is the practice of art through a range of mediums including song, dance, painting, weaving and making of tools amongst many others.  Through the practice of culture Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s wellbeing and resilience is strengthened and enhanced.

During Banyule Open Studios; Barrbunin Beek will be opened for community to experience the breadth of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artistic expression with works on display and makers, artists and creators showcasing their talents from the space.
