Belinda Evans
Works on Paper, Painting, Sculpture
Heidelberg
Bel works in a converted garage under the house, re-creating memories from walks along the Yarra River in Heidelberg, along the coast of Mornington Peninsula, and further afield in outback Australia, walking the Camino in Spain, and in provincial France. Creating works primarily on paper, using ink, paint and charcoal. Belinda also explores other mediums including oil paint and clay and construction sculptures.
Bel’s childhood was spent in the bush and along the coast of the Mornington Peninsula, and her art reflects this love of the bush and sea, exploring these infinite and imaginative places and the free expression found in nature.
Landscape, portraiture, life drawing and the self-portrait have always intrigued Bel, with the mystical ability drawing and sculpture can do to find what is inside a person or place and bring it to the surface visually.
Bel has been working with Drawing and Sculpture for over 20 years. Starting out with a Fine Arts Diploma in Sydney, Bel transferred back to her hometown of Melbourne to complete Fine Arts Degree, in Sculpture, at RMIT. With extensive travels and living in England for many years, Bel reflects on these colourful and rich cultural experiences.
