Deborah Bowen

Glass

Rosanna

Deborah Bowen works from her Rosanna studio, creating artworks and decorative pieces for exhibition, commission, and sale; and teaching kiln formed glass classes and workshops.
Themes of connection, community, repetition, and fragmentation are explored alongside of examination of the effects of light on glass in terms of reflection and refraction.
Deborah’s work incorporates influences and experiences gleaned from life including glass-artist, librarian, teacher and as a woman and mother connecting to her lived experiences and the world around her. She began creating from her earliest days with her mother’s mantra of ‘keep your hands busy’ as a major influence.
Deborah continues to up-skill and immerse herself in new glass techniques and products as they are invented; she is part of the Banyule Open Studios program, sharing her studio and work with the public; and is an active networker and supporter of arts groups and promotion of women in art.
