Janice’s practice began with an attraction to the potters’ wheel. The idea of throwing pots so alluring and satisfying. Throwing led to making functional ware, choosing forms to challenge and develop my throwing skills. As my practice developed, I became interested in materiality, firing techniques and surface development and my work absorbed these new interests.
My work communicates the innate beauty of the everyday object and often finds its way into people’s homes forming part of their everyday. Baking, making, serving and eating. Choosing a vessel for morning coffee or a bowl for soup – art for every day.
