Patricia McCarthy-Henry
Knitted textile art pieces
Montmorency (Zone 1)

Growing up in Ireland Patricia always wore knitwear. She learned to knit at the age of 4, knitting was just part of life. However, it wasn’t apparent until years after she immigrated to Australia, that knit was a core part of who Patricia was and how she expressed herself.
Texture, relief, tactility and importantly, using reclaimed yarns, most often painstakingly unravelled from garment form, are recurring features in her work. Patricia’s pieces are often abstract but tell a deeper story on closer inspection. Small details made from intricately hand manipulated machine knitted yarn make up a much larger visual feast.
